The Junkyard

Spent a few hours at a auto wreckers yard near Acton, Ontario yesterday with some other photographers. Acres upon acres of old cars, trucks and buses. Such a great place!

A Little Slice of History…

I have not done weddings for many years now, but recently I was asked to quote on a wedding for 2019. Since I have no longer have a portfolio of images, I have to start from scratch. I only have images from the last 4 years of weddings I did as they were done most digitally. It has been been a fun exercise and certainly has brought back some memories!

Getting Her Hair Done

Simply Awesome!

Last night here in Yellowknife was simply spectacular! There are no other words. Mother Nature and Lady Aurora came out to play last night and we were simply awed. A full moon, beautiful Aurora, a stunning reflection and absolutely fantastic people surrounding me…WOW!

The Journey

John Travolta I am not…but being silly and having fun is one thing I am good at! Tonight up in Yellowknife, clouds obscured most of the sky so we were out of luck for Lady Aurora, but fun was had! Pushing myself to be creative at times when weather or landscapes may not cooperate is all part of the photographic journey.

Lady Aurora

I am up in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories for a few days and a couple of hours after arriving last night I was out with some fellow photographers and Lady Aurora put on quite a nice show for us!

Morning Paddle

I spent a couple of hours at Grindstone Marsh here in Burlington, Ontario this morning watching the birds hunting for breakfast. Early on a kayak went by for a morning paddle.

Toronto Sky

Yawn….
Did someone say coffee? After 2 very early mornings, I think I need it intravenously!
Many years ago, when I first ventured into this thing we call photography, I wanted to shoot landscapes. Loved the big images, the amazing light. So I did. I found out that I needed to be like the early bird in order to get the worm, or in this case the best light. So I diligently would look up when sunrise would be and I would get to a location for sunrise. To my surprise, other, way smarter, photogs would be packing up when I arrived. I would look at them and ask “where are you going”? Their answer was “you missed the best light man, it was 30 minutes ago”. Disappointed I would kick my own butt and vow to try again. Fortunately I learned from my mistakes and I started arriving well before sunrise and, if I was lucky enough, was able to capture some decent light.

This morning was no different. But I arrived almost 1 hour before sunrise because, surprisingly, traffic was light in the GTA. (don’t look at me that way, even on a Sunday morning, traffic can be backed up). And I am very thankful it was. Because some of the most beautiful light I have ever seen was happening 57 minutes before “official” sunrise. Mother Nature was very kind to me. I guess she figured if I could drag my sorry butt out of bed 2 mornings in a row, I deserved some sort of reward. So thank you Mother Nature! You rock!!

Wilson’s Flats

Last weekend I ventured out with a couple of photographers who live in the Elora region of Ontario. We went out to scout a few locations around Elora. One of them was Wilson’s Flats. The sky did not cooperate with us last weekend so we ended up going for breakfast and chatting about photography. Early this morning I ventured out on my own and decided to try Wilson’s Flats again. This time Mother Nature came through for me and the sky was brilliant!

Portrait Time!

A fantastic morning spent with Christine at Paletta Mansion here in Burlington! It has ben a very long time since I picked up the camera to do portraits, but it was a ton of fun! Here are a few shots from our morning! Thanks to Christine for being a great model and friend!
