Waterfall Berg

The icebergs in the Antarctica were so fascinating in many ways. This one would shift constantly, causing waves and the water to flow up onto it, and then back off like a waterfall.

Sniff…sniff

“I freaking told you I used deodorant today!!”

Fur Seals – Deception Island – Antarctica

A few facts about this area. It is one of the safest harbours in the Antarctica. The island is also a caldera of an active volcano. The last time the volcano erupted was the late 60’s, early 70’s. It destroyed a couple of scientific stations there. It is administered under the Antarctic Treaty System.

Incredible Bergs

Icebergs in the Antarctica are truly amazing. Some so big they boggle the mind. Others, sometimes smaller than 5 metres are known as Bergy Bits or Growlers. The big guys, with mostly flat tops are Tabular. The largest iceberg on record was sighted in 1959 and was over 31,00 sq, Km., or bigger than Belgium. Only about 10% of an iceberg is above the surface of the water. The blue color usually means the ice is much older.
