We Are All Human

We are all human

Every person born is human. At least on this earth. We are all born the same from a physical perspective for the most part. We all have 2 legs, 2 arms, 2 eyes, 2 ears, and the ability to see, hear, smell, feel, taste and touch. It matters none what color our skin is. Black, brown, white, it makes no difference. It matters none what the color of our hair is. Blonde, black, red, brown, it makes no difference. It matters none what the color of our eyes is. Blue, green, brown, it makes no difference.

We are all human

We are all born with the same size brain. Throughout our lives our brains are stimulated in many different ways. In some ways our brains are shaped by society. In other ways our brains are shaped by experiences and paths that we follow in our lives.

We are all human

We are all the same. By this I mean not one single human being is any more important than any other human being. No matter their stature or position in society. Whether you are a politician, a doctor, a teacher, an actor, a sports person, a janitor, a waitress or waiter, or any other profession, you have the same position or stature as everyone else. You deserve nothing more or nothing less than anyone else. Whether you are the CEO or the receptionist, you are just as important. Whether you pick up the garbage or save a life, you are just as important.

We are all human

What this world needs is more love, more kindness, more peace, more generosity. We need to be kinder to one another. We need to understand one another better. We need to have patience with one another. We need to laugh more, smile more and hug more. We need to have more respect for one another. We need to appreciate one another more. We need to say thank you, please, sorry and excuse me more often.

We are all human

Smile at that complete stranger today. If you don’t receive a smile back, don’t take it personally. Smile at the next person and the next. Hold the door open for everyone and if you don’t receive a thank you, keep holding the door open. Don’t allow the actions of others to alter your mindset. If you get cut off in traffic, don’t give the other person a one-finger salute. Instead wave at them or just smile. Don’t yell at the customer service person who is just trying to help you. Understand that they are most likely not the person who caused you the issue to begin with, they are just the person who is trying to assist you. Even if you tip the waitress, say thank you. Say thank you to the bus driver, the cop who is directing traffic, the person who serves you your coffee.

We are all human

Don’t look down at others. We are all equal. The person asking you for a handout may not have any other choice. Don’t decide what they should do with the money you may give them. It is their choice. Don’t assume what someone else is feeling until you have walked in their shoes.

We are all human

If you manage people in your daily job, once in a while, tell them they are doing a good job. Those words can mean much more than any raise. If you have personality differences with people in your job, work it out with them. Anger, mistrust, fighting have never solved anything and never will. If you teach, be patient. Not everyone learns the same. Lead by example and never ask anyone to do what you would not be willing to do yourself.

We are all human

Words can be hurtful. Listen more and talk less. Understand that words can be spoken in ways that are hurtful but were not meant in such a way. Understand that different languages are not a barrier but a challenge. Be patient with those you do not understand.

We are all human

Enjoy your life. It is the only one you have. Go for a walk. Smell the flowers. Listen to the birds singing, the small animals scampering. Enjoy nature. Walk in the rain, the snow, the wind. Don’t litter. Don’t destroy nature. Leave only footprints. Listen to the animals, as they are as much a part of this earth as you are. Never hurt an animal. They have done no wrong to you.

We are all human

If you become angry with someone, understand where the anger comes from and change it. Do not hate. Do not expect someone to do something just because you believe it is right. Do not silence others if they do not agree with you. Always listen and try to understand before you make your mind up.

We are all human

Put your phone away. Talk to the person sitting across from you. Listen to them. Enjoy their company. Laugh with them. Do not judge. Believe in yourself and those around you. When they leave shake their hand, hug them, and be kind. Respect them and they will respect you.

We are all human

Be happy for those who have success. Jealousy only leads to dislike and hatred. If success is what you desire then challenge yourself to achieve it. Do not expect others to provide it for you.

We are all human

If you give your word, keep it. Say what you mean and do what you say. If you are invited and accept then show up. Some of the more common phrases these days, such as pay it forward and give back are much more than just phrases. If you use them, then do them. Your actions are always stronger than your words.

The World Around Us

I am very happy to announce a new photography project! It has been 6 months since the completion of the Life Through The Lens project and I am looking forward to tackling a new endeavour!

This project will be somewhat different from the LTTL project in that it will feature images from all walks of life. Environmental images, images of people doing everyday things and going about their business. It will feature images of not only people, but places and things, the good, bad and sometimes downright ugly. It will feature local and world events, and everything else in between that I come across in my daily life.

There is no set rules for this project. There may be an image every day, or 10 a week. There may be 5 one day, and none for several days. There is also no set time limit. It will begin January 1, 2012 and end when I think it has run its course.

I hope you will accompany me on my latest journey and please always feel free to post your comments and thoughts, good or bad on the images.

Here are a few images to give you an idea of what the project will look like.
