While in The Faroe Islands we had one evening where the skies stayed somewhat clear for a few hours. We also happened to have a full moon. Once the moon was behind one of the mountains, the moon beams lit up the sky. I had a lot of fun playing with compositions!
Well it is not a great shot, but the full moon was certainly beautiful this evening. The unfortunate part was just as it was rising big, dark clouds had moved into the area and the skies opened up with some crazy rain and wind. Needless to say very few images were shot of the moon!
Tonight I had a dream come true! The Aurora Borealis showed up in all its glory here in Yellowknife. It put on an incredible show! I have never seen anything like it. Dancing across the sky, shimmering and wavering, it was truly a spectacle. I simply stood there in awe, watching as the light swirled and danced! I finally remembered to start taking some images! A little while later the almost full moon made an appearance as well. I could not have asked for a more incredible night of photography! This shot is yours truly, lying down on the frozen lake, the Auroras and the moon lighting up the sky!
This evening we had a Meetup.com event to photograph the “Super Moon”. Last month when we tried this the sky was so cloudy no one really got a shot of the moon. Tonight the results were vastly different. We had an almost cloudless sky and the moon was beautiful!
This afternoon I was down at Pier 8 enjoying a coffee at Williams and the beautiful weather we are currently having. There is a very interesting statue near the waters edge at Pier 8, but unfortunately the name escapes me at the moment. Anyway I took this shot where you can just see the moon between the bars.
This evening after dinner I stood out on my back deck and looked up at a very cloudless, clear sky. There was a 1/4 moon showing and the ambient light from Hamilton did not seem to be as evident tonight.
