A Canadian Icon

Spending a few days in eastern Canada and I could not resist heading to a very iconic Canadian place…Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia! I have been here a few times over the years and I have usually shot the typical image at sunset with the lighthouse in the image. This time around I decided to try something different, and I scouted out a location across a small inlet with the lighthouse to the east. I love the softness of the light.

We stayed in a campground in Timaru overnight and got up early for sunrise. This shot was taken at a local beach.

Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia

Peggy’s Cove located about 40 minutes by car from Halifax, Nova Scotia, is one of Canada’s iconic and most photographed spots. You might think it would be the ideal “sunrise” location being near the Atlantic Ocean and all, but it actually faces more west. So the image below was shot at sunset.
