Morning Mist in the Alps

Morning mist in the Austrian Alps

Moody Castle

Kaprun Castle is located in the municipality of Kaprun in the state of Salzburg, Austria. We stayed in a hotel very close to it and I was up early the next morning to go and photograph it. The castle was believed to have been built in the 12th century by the noble family of the Counts of Falkenstein.

Austrian Alps

Just a beautiful day in the Alps!

I had been keeping my eyes open for this kind of scene for quite some time, but not being the driver, I was out of luck on several occasions. However we finally did stop outside of this small village and the scene was just breathtaking!

Neuschwanstein Castle

While I was in Austria and during our travels we ventured into Germany and visited the famous Neuschwanstein Castle. It is a 19th century Romanesque Revival palace on a rugged hilltop above the village of Hohenschwangau. It was built for King Ludwig II in order for him to withdraw from public life. 7 weeks after his death in 1886, it opened to the public.

Burg Oberranna

Recently I spent a week in the beautiful country of Austria. I was amazed at how clean the country was and the stunning landscapes and gorgeous architecture of many of the old castles and buildings.

This is the tower of Burg Oberranna, a 13th century hilltop castle in the Wachau Valley.
