The demolition of part of the old James Street Baptist Church has begun. Back in late 2012 new owners purchased the church and said it was structurally unsafe. It would need in excess of $2 million dollars to fix it. This church was built between 1878 and 1882. The back two thirds of the building will be torn down. They will keep the front facade and the east tower. An $80 million dollar condo development is scheduled to replace the rest.Â

That’s too bad the church can’t be saved. It is beautiful!
